Dr. Zoltán Balázs

Dr. Zoltán Balázs holds a degree in food science from Budapest, where he specialized in food biotechnology and fermentation technology. He earned his PhD in chemistry from the University of Graz in 2003, with research focused on the molecular mechanisms of vitamin E and lipoprotein transport across the blood-brain barrier.

Following nearly four years of postdoctoral biomedical research in Berne, he joined the University of Basel as an assistant lecturer and senior research scientist. There, he contributed to the newly established Molecular and Systemic Toxicology group within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. During this time, he gained extensive hands-on experience in designing and conducting in vitro and in vivo studies on metabolism and toxicity. His scientific work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Balázs has been dedicated to regulatory affairs in the food and feed sector. He has comprehensive expertise in study planning and monitoring, as well as in the preparation of regulatory dossiers for food and feed additives, enzymes, flavourings, and health claims.
